Weenat leaf wetness sensor

ROBUST. PRECISE. MAINTAINABLE.

An ultra-resistant wetness sensor

Even during the worst weather conditions, your Weenat wetness sensor is there, outside.
Busy measuring what’s happening in your foliage.
So we wanted sturdy materials. For precision that lasts, even after years.

Leaf Wetness Sensor measurements

Precise measurement of leaf wetness duration and intensity

Designed to mimic the thermodynamic behavior of a leaf, the Weenat leaf wetness sensor precisely measures the duration of leaf wetness (in minutes) and its intensity (on a scale of 1 to 10).

Measurement  Unit Measurement principle Measurement range

Phytos 31 Sensor

Designed to mimic the thermodynamic behavior of a leaf, the Weenat sensor precisely measures the duration of leaf wetness (in minutes) and its intensity (on a scale of 1 to 10). This information is essential for better protecting your crops.

Data transmission to the Weenat application

Sensor data is transmitted in near real-time via low-power Sigfox, LoRa or LTE-M NB-IoT (4G / 5G) networks, which are energy-efficient.

High quality equipment

Resistant battery

The Weenat sensor operates wirelessly. Instead, you’ll find an ultra-resistant battery, with a lifespan of at least 2 years. When it’s empty, your battery can be changed without the intervention of a technician.

Multi-support attachment system

Install your sensor directly under the plant canopy. And measure wetness as close as possible to your foliage.

All your agro-weather data on a single application

With Weenat, enjoy unprecedented features to manage your agricultural operations.
Take your data everywhere with you and monitor your plots 24/7 from your computer, tablet or smartphone.

Anticipate disease risk

Monitor the appearance of favorable climatic conditions for the development of pests in real time.

  • Track the evolution of leaf wetness on your plots at a glance thanks to graphic curves.
  • Monitor wetness duration between 2 dates to assess disease risks.
  • Consult data history to identify recurring patterns and secure your harvest.
  • And set up as many alerts as you wish to be notified in case of danger on your plots.

Avoid unnecessary treatments

When there is too much dew in the foliage, the sprayed droplets run off before being absorbed by the plant.

With the Weenat wetness sensor, you only treat when climatic conditions are optimal.

Less product, more protection!

Conversely, slight wetness allows your treatments to spread over a larger leaf surface area. You then use less product, and your plants are better protected.

What are the weather parameters measured by the leaf wetness sensor?

The Weenat leaf wetness sensor measures the presence of dew on foliage in real time. Every 15 minutes, the sensor transmits two pieces of information, which you can consult directly on your phone, tablet or computer using the Weenat application.

This information includes:

➡️ Wetness duration (in minutes)
➡️ Wetness intensity (on a scale of 1 to 10)

Use this data to anticipate disease risks and optimize your interventions.

How the Weenat wetness sensor works

How is leaf wetness measured?

The leaf wetness sensor measures the presence of water on the leaf surface by measuring dielectric permittivity, a data very strongly linked to the presence of water.

The sensor is designed to mimic the thermodynamic behavior of an average leaf (density, heat capacity, thickness, etc.). This mimicry allows the sensor to best reflect the wetness state of the average canopy.

Which DSTs are compatible with the Weenat wetness sensor?

The Weenat wetness sensor is compatible with several decision support tools (DST), including RIMpro and the Apple Scab DST.

Installation and maintenance of the wetness sensor

    Where to install your sensor?

The leaf wetness sensor mimics the wetness behavior of foliage. For precise measurement, it must therefore be positioned as close as possible to the plant canopy.

    Place your sensor:

➡️ In an area of representative plant cover if you want to monitor the development of fungal diseases on your crops.
➡️ On the periphery of the plant canopy if you want to optimize your phytosanitary treatments or if you connect your sensor to the RIMpro decision support tool.

How to install your connected wetness sensor?

Like the agricultural frost sensor, the tensiometric probe, the capacitive probe, or the weather station, the Weenat wetness sensor is delivered ready to use with an installation guide. You can also find advice and tutorials by visiting the Help Center.

Use the cable ties provided with the leaf wetness sensor. The sensor can be positioned at a trellis post or any other support close to the plant canopy.

How to maintain your leaf wetness sensor?

The leaf wetness sensor requires no calibration or paint on its surface. Only occasional cleaning with a cloth.

You can also apply a UV protection product on the leaf to extend the life of your sensor.
